Parade Rules
- 1Parade staging begins at 9:00 am. Units must be in their assigned spot by 12:45 pm or they may be marked absent and payment may not be remitted. Streets close and highways become busy, so plan ahead with your group.
- 2Only approved pre-parade units may hand out candy or flyers. Candy cannot be thrown from vehicles; walkers must distribute it throughout the full route. Pre-parade units must participate in a sponsorship role. Contact wozhawa@yahoo.com for sponsorship information.
- 3Candy and flyers are not allowed for any units in the regular parade lineup, beginning with Unit 1.
- 4Your float, group, or performance must be appealing to the audience. The parade director will request a description of your unit for approval.
- 5Music may be used by musical numbers only. This helps the parade team place visual units between musical numbers such as bands.
- 6Buses, trailers, or other transportation for equipment, staff, or participants may not follow in front of or behind a parade unit.
- 7Units are approved based on audience appeal, community participation, and the festival budget. Parade prospects are reviewed every two weeks; please allow time for a response.
- 8Animals must be trained and accustomed to large crowds and loud noises, and must meet all medical requirements for being around other animals.
